African Leaders to Unveil New Narrative on Climate Investment: “Africa Is Investible”
On Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 at 3:30 p.m., African ministers and global development leaders will gather at the Africa Pavilion to discuss reshaping the global narrative around climate investment on the continent. The event is organised by the Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI).
A New Investment Paradigm for Africa
The session, titled “Forging a New Investment Paradigm: From Vulnerable to Investible,” aims to challenge decades of risk-heavy models that have slowed climate-related capital flows into Africa.
The discussion is framed under the theme:
“Shifting the Narrative: The Africa Green Opportunity Index (AGOI)”
Sub-theme: “Positioning Africa as the Next Green Investment Frontier.”
AGESI highlights that many global models overlook Africa’s enormous resource wealth—including the fact that the continent holds over 40% of the world’s solar energy potential.
Introducing the Africa Green Opportunity Index (AGOI™)
At the heart of the event is AGESI’s new institutional mantra:
“Africa is Investible.”
The AGOI™ is positioned as the definitive tool for unlocking the large-scale finance African nations need to achieve both development goals and global net-zero commitments.
The index delivers a powerful, data-driven framework that emphasises Africa’s opportunity and inherent wealth—rather than outdated, risk-focused perceptions.
Global Significance and Support for South–South Cooperation
The initiative carries strong geopolitical importance. It aligns directly with the Brazil COP Presidency’s priorities on equity, inclusion, and South–South cooperation.
By positioning Africa as a central partner in global green growth, the AGOI™ aims to help secure more equitable and substantial climate finance agreements for the continent.
High-Level Participants Expected
The event will bring together senior leaders including:
-
Environment ministers from Nigeria and The Gambia
-
Representatives from the African Development Bank (AfDB)
-
The UNDP
-
UNU-INRA
-
Officials from the Brazilian COP Presidency

Setting a New Standard for Green Investment
The outcomes of the AGOI™ presentation are expected to set a new benchmark for assessing green investment opportunities across Africa. AGESI believes this work will provide a critical pathway for directing essential climate finance into Africa’s sustainable future.
