Nigeria’s Climate Plan (NDC 3.0)
Nigeria has officially launched its Climate Plan (NDC 3.0), a bold roadmap to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2060. This updated framework, submitted to the UNFCCC in 2025, outlines ambitious mitigation strategies, strengthened adaptation measures, and a just transition that ensures no community is left behind. With targets such as cutting emissions by 29% by 2030 and 32% by 2035 (relative to 2018 levels), expanding renewable energy to 52% of the electricity mix, and planting 250,000 hectares of trees annually, NDC 3.0 represents Nigeria’s strongest climate commitment yet.
More than a policy document, this plan is designed to be accessible to every Nigerian. Through a simplified infographic, citizens, businesses, and communities can clearly see their role in building a greener future. The benefits are tangible: cleaner air, new jobs in renewable energy and green manufacturing, greater energy security, and resilience against climate shocks. With an estimated $337 billion needed to fund this transition, Nigeria calls on international partners, local stakeholders, and everyday citizens to unite in action. Together, this plan is not just a promise; it is a pathway to a more sustainable, prosperous, and secure Nigeria.
