Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI) Secures Foundational Trademarks, Strengthening Brand Identity Across Tech and Business Sectors
The Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute LTD/GTE (AGESI), also known as the Africa Sustainability Institute (ASI), proudly announces the official registration and acceptance of two key trademarks by Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

The registered trademarks—the “ASI” wordmark and the “AGESI” logo—establish exclusive rights for the institute’s dual-brand strategy. This legal recognition marks a significant milestone in securing AGESI’s identity as it continues to roll out innovative technological solutions and sustainable business practices across Africa.
“Securing the ‘ASI’ and ‘AGESI’ trademarks is a critical milestone. This provides the legal framework to protect our identity as we roll out innovative technological solutions and sustainable business practices,” said Dr. Eugene Itua, Executive Director of the institute.
The “ASI” wordmark is now a registered trademark representing the institute’s technology and innovation arm, while the “AGESI” logo is protected for use in business management, administration, and advertising services. Together, they reinforce AGESI’s mission-driven identity and its long-term strategy to lead Africa’s transition to a green economy.
“This protection directly supports the four pillars of our institute: empowering policy with intelligence, unleashing our human capital, nurturing green innovation, and forging strategic partnerships across all sectors,” Dr. Itua added.
“In essence, our brand is our living blueprint—and a heartfelt invitation for partners to join us in building a green economy for Africa.”
The announcement received commendation from the institute’s patron, Emeritus Professor Babajide Alo, an internationally respected sustainability expert with decades of experience in environmental management and African development.
“AGESI was conceived not to be another think-tank, but an agile do-tank—a conduit for translating our vast intellectual capital into tangible, lasting value for our people,” Prof. Alo stated.
“This moment marks a decisive shift from treating the environment and economy as separate spheres to embracing them as interconnected. It’s a call to move beyond awareness to action, and I am proud to support this new paradigm for Africa’s development.”
With these trademark registrations, AGESI reinforces its market presence and safeguards its intellectual property, ensuring consistent brand use across all platforms and services.
